Midsummer Night in the Lofoten & Vesterålen

Day 1:

Your journey starts today in Bodø. One of the crew members will meet you around noon at the Ferjekai. Together with your fellow travelers, you'll then board the ferry that takes you to the island of Moskenesøya in 3-4 hours, one of the southernmost islands of the Lofoten. On deck, you can get some fresh air and see the jagged mountain peaks of the Lofoten appearing in the distance.

Towards the end of the afternoon, you'll arrive in the harbor of Moskenes. Our sailing ship, the Baltic, is docked here. We'll show you the ropes on the ship so you'll quickly feel at home, and we'll have a delicious meal ready for you. After dinner, it's time for a safety briefing and you'll hear the sailing plans for tomorrow. Afterward, you can get to know your fellow travelers and the crew while enjoying a drink.

 After breakfast, we'll cast off the lines and sail out of the harbor. Together we'll hoist the sails, and you'll take turns helping with steering or trimming the sails. We'll sail north along a chain of islands. We'll dock in some of the beautiful small harbors of the Lofoten, for example in the Nussfjord or Henningsvaer. Or perhaps we'll sail on to the small island of Skrova, where we can take a trip through the shallow and rocky waters with the dinghy. Those who love hiking could climb the Skrova fjellet for a breathtaking view.

Of course, we'll also set course for one of the most extraordinary places in the Lofoten: the famous Trollfjord. You won't see the narrow entrance to this fjord until we're very close. We'll slowly sail inside. The mountain wall rises almost vertically out of the water. If there's room, we'll try to dock at the back of the fjord. You can walk along the waterline or take a challenging hike through the mountains. Or put on your swimwear for a refreshing dip in the fjord. Your camera will definitely be working overtime. For bird lovers: this is one of the best places to spot sea eagles!
